The ILLSA First Annual Illinois Latino Law Forum was hosted in February 2004 at the Chicago Bar Association. It was ILLSA’s first major community service event. The Forum was designed to bring Latina/o judges, lawyers, and law students in touch with prospective Latina/o law students. The Forum offered panels, admission workshops, and mock law classes with local law professors.

We would like to share with you some of the comments we received from Forum attendees below:
“…I have always had so many unanswered questions about law school that I now have an answer to. It feels good to know that I am not the only Hispanic with the goal of becoming a lawyer, and that there are so many Hispanics who currently hold such important positions in the field of law…I learned today that law school is very hard, (but) I also learned that it is possible and if I want to I can do it…”
“…the forum made a big impact on me and thanks to you I’m considering becoming a lawyer…”
“This forum is a great foundation for the years to come. Our latino students need the guidance and support - great job!”
“I loved seeing people on the other side of the table who have made it. Thank you so much for doing this - this really was motivational for all of us!!”
“Very helpful forum, informative for first-generation Latinos who don’t know where to go or where to start researching the many aspects of law school (financial aid, admission, etc.)”
