ILLSA FUTURE

ILLSA began as an informal group trying to do good things for our member organizations, local Latino community, and for the legal community in Illinois, but have since grown into a more organized group including officers and board members from all nine Illinois law schools. ILLSA is also rapidly progressing toward attaining 501(c)(3) non-profit status.

ILLSA holds regular board meetings and we also have a website that showcases our recent developments, photos, links, and useful information for students. We also have an interactive calendar showcasing all events from our respective Latino law student organizations to increase attendance and to share our resources. We realize that each Illinois law school is different, but the ILLSA coalition helps Latina/o law students across Illinois to draw on those diverse resources and contacts to make our members a tightly-knit community. Though our activity is centered in Chicago due to the vast majority of the law schools there, we do reach out to all law schools in Illinois and there are many other ways to participate in ILLSA that do not require a physical presence in Chicago.

ILLSA is dedicated to building alliances across Illinois as we recognize that this builds friendships; business; better networking, social, and academic events; better mentoring and fundraising opportunities; more community service; and increased power over the direction of our legal careers as we get exposed to more people, more areas of law, and different types of employment. Through all of the above, ILLSA believes our activities will boost the much-needed Latino presence in the legal field.
